Blue’s return 2

Recommended Posts

:::Blue touched down outside the base and walked up to the entrance. Gave his name and rank and was gestured onto the base. He made his way to his barracks. He knew Maurice would be there to take him into custody for being AWOL. He knew he was in trouble but he had already decided he would not give feeble excuses but would face his mistakes and the consequences head on. He had no idea what would happen but he wasn’t a coward and he wasn’t weak. He was tired of trying to please everyone and when he got to his barracks he fell across his bed in exhaustion and went to sleep:::

It seemed that there had been a bit a discussion after the mutant arrived, but they at least let him sleep.  When the boy woke Maurice was standing next to his bed, sans his normal smirk.  He seemed pretty damn concerned.  'They want you in uniform," he intoned.  "I Did manage to talk them out of cuffs and collar, but they are not happy."  He did turn to give the mutant some privacy to dress and wash his face before meeting his fate.

::::Blue was instantly awake as he heard what Maurice had said. He got up and got dressed in uniform and washed his face. He brushed his silvery blonde hair and pulled his boots on. He looked like any other soldier on the base except for his reptilian blue eyes. It was time to face the Colonel and the powers that be. “ If you got in trouble sir, I am sorry. I have no excuses. I am ready to go sir.” Blue hoped his brother’s field trip was worth all this. He did grab a folder and hand it to Maurice. “ The notes that were ordered while I was with Dante sir. They are fully filled out and all have been signed with my signature. “ Blue had been ordered to try and work with his brother instead of the boys fighting against one another and he had been told to keep a journal of all that was said and done. Blue took his work seriously and he knew that Maurice would get his work turned in for him. He knew he was looking at being placed in jail and though inwardly he was scared outwardly he was calm and completely emotionless.::::

Maurice took the envelope and tucked it under his arm before turning and leading Blue through the bivouac to the conference room.  The room was empty at the moment but Maurice gestured for Blue to sit in the single chair placed at one end of the long table.  The ensign then left the room, closing the door behind him.  Blue would be able to hear voices in the hallway, the Colonel's baritone easily recognizable behind the door...

(Sorry been hella busy lately)

::::::Blue heard the Colonel’s voice and took a deep breath. He was going to strangle his brother if he was imprisoned for this. He really didn’t understand why they were so strict about having permission to do everything. He use to wonder how they got anything done but it somehow worked. He just wished he could go back to making weapons and being allowed to paint at his leisure. His gentle artistic soul needed that outlet and he once again wondered if he was taking the right path. He had chosen this life so until he reached the end of his service or they released him he was just going to have to deal with what he got. His shoulders then slumped as he circled around in his thoughts over and over again coming back to the conclusion that he had been an idiot and he was now going to pay for it.:::::::::

It seemed a bit more time before the door opened again, this time with the Colonel entering first with Blue’s folder tucked under his arm.  With him came Maurice, Anso, Satchel, and two MP’s who flanked Blue’s chair.  The Colonel sat giving a long sigh, clearly still trying to decide what to do, even as he folded his hands and rested them on the table.  He looked to the other men before proceeding.  “As you know, Cadet, you are in some serious trouble: dereliction of duty, abandoning your post, pretty much going AWOL.  I’ve read your submitted report and logbook, but I’d like to hear from your lips as to what you were thinking taking off with your brother?”

::::Blue was sitting straight up as the Colonel spoke to him. He sighed and then shrugged his shoulders slightly to release the tension in them. “ I am sorry for not completing my duties before rushing off on a fool’s errand. I have no excuse for going off with my brother. He orders and I follow. I know it’s your orders I should be following. I do apologize sir but I will not excuse my actions and neither should you.” Blue grew quiet and simply sat there waiting for the axe to fall so to speak. He was hoping a collar wasn’t in the plan but he wouldn’t blame them if they did.:::::::

The Colonel nodded as he listened to Blue before thumbing through the folder again, clearly trying to decide on something before replying.  "At least that's an honest reply."  He gave a long sigh, closing the folder before leaning back, rubbing his hand through thinking black hair (at least it hadn't gone grey yet)  "I don't know if you fully understand the situation.  We will have to address this not only with the Mutant clan, but with the Vashtalian brigade as well since your family has close associations with them.  Your whim could have easily been escalated into something worse."

Another sigh escaped him as he gestured to the file.  "Sad, really.  Your notes and observations are indeed in- depth and organized, giving us great insight to a land we've not visited yet.  I could foresee you as being a scout, perhaps as representative or ambassador for us; but if we cannot rely on you to adhere to the rules, we have little use for you here.  A shame because you do have a lot of promise, especially for your breed.."

He pursed his lips.  "For now, no collar.  Your transgressions were not due to your talents, but you will be confined to the brig for 10 days.  At that time we will revisit this.  I will inform your parents and Lord Dracon.  Hopefully this will not escalate into any sort of incident."

Speak of the devil and all that as it was Dracon was just teleporting in at the main gates of the compound requesting an audience with the Colonel, and Blue as well for that matter.

The com sounded off and the Colonel looked at the display, frowning before giving a long sigh.  He gestured to the guard flanking Blue.  He also gestured to Maurice.  “You escort him to the brig.  I’ve got to speak with Lord Dracon.”

Maurice sighed, gesturing for Blue to stand up.  “Let’s go,” he intoned to the young mutant.

The Colonel waited until the entourage left before tapping on the com.  “Escort Lord Dracon to Conference Room Three please.”  He then couched his head, wondering was was next to come down the pike.

An ensign came up to the gates of their bivouac where the guards were standing with the Vashtalian dragon and gave a customary bow.  “Good afternoon, Lord Dracon.  If you will come with me, I will take you to the Colonel.”  The pathway seemed to twist and turn through the guts of the building, but they got to the conference room soon enough.  The ensign knocked softly at the metal door before opening, gesturing for Dracon to enter.  The Colonel was standing with a welcoming smile.  “Come in, come in.  Tell me, what’s on your mind today?”

Dracon had entered, quirking a brow at the fact that Blue was not present but then he just shrugged figuring that such was to be expected.  Giving the Colonel a small bow himself.  "First off let me thank you for meeting me on such short, not to mention unannounced, notice.  Now, let me cut to the chase and ask if it would at all be possible for you to postpone whatever punishment you have for Little Blue for a little while?  Shouldn't be too long.  However I'm sure that would be tall order without being given a valid reason wouldn't it so how is this for a reason?"

A moment later those eyes, glowing faintly with a light the color of the purest crimson, narrowed as he focused them on the Colonel however despite the hint of pure bloodlust emanating from the dragon in humanoid form it was still quite clear that none of it was directed at either him or his people.  "Siren was attacked within our borders without provocation and the Solem'cleavu clan is on the hunt.  As a member of Clan Windwalker it would be Blue's right to join in and it would be appreciated if he were allowed to do so.  This was a clear act of hostility towards the dragon clans and it shall not go unpunished."

The Colonel should have known that there was little chance of keeping any sort of secrets, especially since it involved one of the mutant clan.  This news, however, brought in a whole ‘nother bag of worms.  “If Siren was attacked, have you notified the mutants?  The fact that Junior and Siren are an item I’m quite sure that they consider her and her family part of the group.  Probably as much as they consider you and your kind cousins.  You should make sure that they’re involved as well….”  The Colonel wasn’t exactly sure Who was the representative head honcho for the clan.  The original Aurora and the Rex were off planet so by his calculations the head would fall to Brimstone.  But then there was the wizened Old Lady Aurora alternate to consider. Heck even Megan had proper rights to the title,  but then Drac here had swooped the whole clan under his wing so maybe he should be handling anything dealing with the brood.

Which made his decision pretty clear, especially since Drac was already here asking, and his aura showed that he meant business.  Frankly it was unsettling.  “Well, since you already know Blue was in trouble for dereliction of duty and abandoning his post, I had put him in the brig to cool his heels a bit, however I know how family ties are with his kind; well with any kind but almost religiously so with the clan, I might be hard pressed to keep him contained without him doing harm to himself or others.  I will release him into your custody, but once he has completed his mission, I will need you to return him to us immediately to serve out his sentence.”

The Colonel tapped a few times on his com.  “They will be returning him here shortly….”  He looked up at Drac now.  “Is there anything else we can do for you.  Did you need any help in locating the assailant…?”

Blue and his escort had just reached the cell, a solid metal room with no windows or bars; just a small hatch in which the guard could look in on him and push his meal tray through.  Maurice, looking very sullen, had just opened the door when his com lit up.  He scanned the feed, looking a bit perplex.  “Looks like we need to return to the conference room.  Maybe they’ve made their final decisions already.  Ugh.  C’mon Blue… let’s head back…”

Drac had nodded a bit as the Colonel addressed the obvious concerns.  "They have indeed been notified, Seren was with Brimstone when the call came in and Brimstone will be notifying the rest including Star."

At the mention of him already having some information on Blue's predicament the hostile aura had lessened as he chuckled a bit.  "It wasn't hard to figure out Colonel after all if I was in your shoes I'd have done the same.  If it helps this hunt is being carried out as a Vashtalian Military Operation as it was Siren, being assigned as eventual governor of the newly re-integrated Crystal Desert Region of Vashtalia, was attacked and I have been assigned command of this operation due to both my Dragoon status and my current status as chosen leader of the Mutant Clan.

"As such due to the way this hunt is being carried out anyone assisting in this matter whether they be Mutant or Vashtalian are expected to to follow Vashtalian chain of command in this instance.  Dante has already been given these conditions, Blue will be as well.  Brimstone should be relaying these conditions to Star and Ashmire as we speak and if the Elder Aurora wishes to join in she will be provided the same conditions."

While the Colonel made his decision and requested Blue be brought back Drac had actually conjured up a couple flasks full of water.  Taking a drink from one of them as he offered the other to the Colonel before he nodded his acknowledgement of Blue being brought back to the room.  "Rest assured Colonel that Blue will be brought back to serve out his sentence.  After all as I mentioned before if I were in your shoes at the moment I would expect the same.

"As for your offer of assistance I would have to say strictly speaking I wouldn't want to involve your people in what is strictly speaking an internal matter for us.  In fact the only reason I'm here now is because Blue is here and he has a right, as I said before, to be informed of current matters and given the option to join in our hunt if he so wishes.

However if you wish to consider Blue as the assistance you are offering, since he is currently serving under you, we can consider this a joint operation with Blue falling temporarily under Vashtalian chain of command.  Also if you were to say...assign the boy a supervisor to ensure he's following his given orders you may even be able to count this as a form of 'community service' towards his sentence if you so choose.  Count this as just another option for you which would give the boy a chance to redeem himself. "

Again, the Colonel thought this through.  “Well Blue IS in service to us, so if he’s involved, we are to a degree.  I’ll send Maurice along to monitor the situation and to be my eyes and ears.  That will also give you a means to contact us if you have need of us and our tech.  That and he can also watch Blue.  If he can keep himself in check, it might go a long way to reassessing his position within the Militant faction.  I really don’t want to lose him.  He’s got potential, especially in light of his recent foray with his brother.  The idea might have been foolhardy, but his notes are impeccable.”

Now it was Drac's turn to think things through before he nodded his agreement.  "Very well then we have an agreement.  We'll figure out where to best place the boy given his talents once we're on site.  Karla'ngel is still tracking the one that made the attack and hopefully they'll be able to lead us to where the rest of our prey are hiding."

"Fair enough..."  The Colonel tapped a few more times on his tablet, then turned the device towards Drac.  "Documentation over what we just spoke about, just to keep my records straight.  If you would just sign here, Blue...."  As if he'd timed it, Maurice entered with Blue in tow.  "... will be under your jurisdiction for this venture."  The Militant then gesture for Blue to sit again in his chair, this time sans flanking guards.  "Blue, Lord Dracon needs to speak with you."

::: Blue noted a slight tremor of tension and noticed that the Colonel was basically having Lord Drac sign him out and before any of the adults could say anything he asked gruffly. “ Is my mom ok?” Blue was fine for anything he just wanted to know that his volatile mother was ok. He had taken a seat and his reptilian eyes were wide and taking in his surroundings and it was obvious the boy was frightened. The Colonel and Lord Drac were not to be trifled with alone much less so when they were together. Blue knew that something had just gone down and he was being placed in service.:::::

Dracon just quirked a brow at the question about the boy's mother even as he thought on it for a bit. "Well last I knew she was fine.  Now whether or not that will be the case here once she gets the report that will be another story entirely.  No young Blue this is involving Siren.  It would seem that she was attacked just a short while ago and I'm enlisting your aid in the hunt.  Consider it as a bit of community service for you going AWOL on the Colonel here."

::::Blue's eyes widened further ."Why would anyone harm my aunt. she is sweet and fun loving and everyone adores her." Blue was completely shocked by Drac's words. He was at a loss but wanted to make sure his aunt was ok for himself and so he straightened his posture and spoke to the Colonel. "Thank you Colonel for allowing me this chance to prove to yourself and the others that I am still useful in your ranks. My apologies for going AWOL and I can tell you now it won't be happening again." Blue was the by the far the most steadfast and stable of Star's offspring, it didn't help he was also among the most talented artistically speaking. Blue waited for the meeting to adjourn so he and Lord Drac could get to the crystal desert as soon as possible.::

The Colonel nodded.  "Okay then.  Maurice will be going with you."  Maurice's head snapped up at the mention of his name as the Colonel nodded. "As one of my people I want to make sure that Blue conducts himself in the proper manner; we are assisting in this mission and I want this to go as smoothly as possible.  You two go grab your gear.  You're leaving in ten."

Maurice rose slowly, but gave a proper salute before heading to get his gear bag from his bunker, his head swimming as he wrapped his mind around his task.

The Colonel turned back to Drac as the two ensign's left.  "Is there anything else we can help you with, Lord Drac?"

"That is a good question Blue and one we have a few theories on however we'll touch on those later on site.  Now go on and get ready I believe you do not have much time."  As Maurice and Blue left Drac refocused his attention on the Colonel.

"I will be sure to get you a copy of the final report once this hunt is over.   Outside of that I can't think of anything else I might need.  Now I'll leave you to get back to your work and go wait at the gate for those two.  Thank you for sparing some time for this little request of mine."  Drac stood up then, straightening out his uniform a bit.

::Blue didn't tarry, he snapped a smart salute to the Colonel and then was running down the corridor to the barracks to grab his gear. He knew that Maurice was at sixes and sevens as B.S. would say at getting a chance to go on a mission outside of the base. Blue looked over and said gruffly.. "Make sure you put long johns in your gear. The crystal desert is like a glacier. It's below freezing almost year round." He threw Maurice his insulated jacket just to make sure his buddy had enough to stay warm. After he had his ruck sack all packed with the things he would need he slung it over his shoulder and quickly headed out to the front to meet up with Lord Drac. He figured they were teleporting.:::::

Maurice grumbled as he caught the jacket.  "Figures, the first mission I get to go on in a while and it's to an ice zone.  It used to get cold on the ship, especially in deep space.  I'd end up huddling next to the turbines when I could.  I like where our biovac is; not too cold, not too hot."  He grabbed his gear from under the bed, a duffle bag that he added a few more electronic gizmos to take readings and record information before turning to Blue.  "Your not going to give me any headaches, are you?"

"If he were to cause you any headaches I'll be sure to smack him upside the head for you."  This from Drac as he was making his way towards the gates at that time as well.  However he did toss both Maurice and Blue each a pendant similar to the one that Serenity had provided Dante and BS.  "Wear these under your clothes, they should help mitigate the cold of the crystal desert region."

Maurice caught the pendant.  He had seen the magics used by the dragons but had never implemented such devices personally.  He draped the chain around his neck, curious if the pendant would indeed stave off the cold.  "Thank you, Sir," he replied for both the trinket and the promise to rebuke Blue; though the idea that the latter would not be under Maurice's admonishments seemed a bit confusing.  Still they were being contracted out to help the dragons so they were at the reptile's mercy as it were.  So be it.  "I believe we are ready for transport, Sir."
